How much value does it have, when its free?

How much value does it have, when its free?

Have you ever had this moment in your life where you feel like the fool?

So recently I had one of those.

As a holistic healer, counsellor and transformational coach, I have the opportunity to work with people with different backgrounds.  Homemakers, professionals, business families, influencers are some of the many wonderful people I come across, and it’s just amazing to see the benefits they acquire. They happily pay me for my services, which they openly receive.

Sadly enough I cannot say the same about some others who I willingly provide my service for free.

Recently a close relative was suffering from a health issue and out of concern and love for this individual I decided to offer my healing energies for free. I did one session with him and he got better, but the very next day he recreated the same for himself, so I worked on him again, but he had already decided that he should go and consult a doctor and said

“I should go to a doctor I think”

“A doctor” I went in my head, “really?”

At first I was pissed that this individual did not value my services, but then I realised that I have not added a VALUE to my service. I laughed at myself and thought, “Wow Its free so its not working. I work with so many people and all have only given me positive and fulfilling feedback, it was a stupid idea to do this for free.”

In retrospect I realised that it was such a disservice for the both of us, because I did not charge him I wasted both our time. He did not benefit because it was free for him and hence he did not have value for it, and I lost out on my time where I could have actually made a difference to him or someone else.

When I say that he had no value for it is that he did not pay for it hence it did not really matter to him if it worked or not. If he had payed for it he would have made sure that it worked because he paid. Funny right? But that’s the way it is. So many times things don't work for people because they do not pay for it. Hence it is so important to add some VALUE to your service, and ask for it. This is a way to respect both involved.

At times we may think that we are doing good for another, but we must also be compassionate enough to know whether the person has the capacity to receive that energy from you for free.

More on Capacity of Receiving soon…

Now I leave you with a question

Is your service a disservice if it’s free?

Have an awesome day
